More manuscripts!

At the past congress of the Spanish Association of Arthroscopy (Asociación Española de Artroscopia) in La Coruña, the Steering Committee renewed its support of this editorial team in directing the journal of our association. The confidence shown is much appreciated, and we are all aware that it has not been possible to overcome one of the main problems facing this editorial team over approximately the last three years: the lack of original papers submitted for publication.

This lack of originals is due to a number of factors, including particularly the reluctance of our "young" surgeons to display their work and findings in a scientific journal. We therefore have to insist on one of the main initiatives which our editorial team has sought to develop: the "school for authors".

Transmitting our findings and experiences, generated from the study of the clinical outcomes of our patients or from basic research, should be viewed as a self-imposed obligation for all of us as physicians, surgeons and scientists. 

I wish to address all the young arthroscopists with an interest in research: simply regarding the Revista Española de Artroscopia y Cirugía Articular and this editorial team as friends on which to support your start in scientific divulgation would be a success for all of us. We would like the "school for authors" to be a reference for all those "inexpert" surgeons in publishing their work, offering friendly help throughout the process.

Furthermore, we would also like to call upon those groups of surgeons that regularly publish in indexed international journals to consider the Revista Española de Artroscopia y Cirugía Articular as a journal for publication of part of their research, thereby serving as an example and "tutoring" those professionals who are just beginning.

In this context, the present monograph addresses a complex topic: the broad range of options for the management of irreparable rotator cuff injuries. This initiative has received the support of a number of young authors and expert surgeons to evidence our capacity to publish articles of great scientific value.

I hope you will find this monograph and the Revista Española de Artroscopia y Cirugía Articular to be as interesting as we find our own editorial work.
